About Us
Baldwin Institutions stand as a living testimony to vision, resilience, and enduring values, named after its benefactor and philanthropist John Baldwin of Berea, Ohio, U.S.A.
Mr. John Baldwin, who pursued his education while working as a janitor and chopping wood, dedicated his life to making education accessible.
The name “Baldwin,” of Germanic royal origin, means “Bold Winner” –a spirit consistently mirrored in our journey.
The Baldwin School for Girls was established in 1880, in Bangalore and continues to offer quality education to Girls.
Recognizing the growing need for higher education for women, the
Pre-University Course (PUC) section was introduced in 1991, and the Degree section was added in 1995.
The institution is now a symbol of the triumph of tradition and individual talent, the fruit of Loyalty and Service emanating from the warm, God fearing heart of John Baldwin and other noble souls that led to its phenomenal growth. Today, BGPUC and BWMC stand as the tallest landmarks of commitment and quality education in the city.
Baldwin Women’s Methodist College is managed by the Methodist Church in India, with the Bishop of the Bangalore Regional Conference serving as the Chairman of Baldwin Methodist Educational Society.
